They decide to cash in on the prospect of a cheap holiday there, by forming themselves into a makeshift football team to take on the local talent.But the road to the Continent is littered with all sorts of pit-falls and problems, even before they make it to the English Channel.And once they set foot on foreign soil, their problems are far from over. In fact they are only just beginning. An unexpected overnight stay on a French camp site, ends with half the team losing all their clothes during a moonlit skinny-dipping session.There’s an embarrassing brush with the law on the Belgium frontier after one of the lads oversteps the mark with a whole coachload of foreign nuns.On arrival at the destination, under the watchful eye of their old headmaster and a representative from their local parish council, the lads discover they have taken on far more than they ever expected, and that their German hosts are treating the whole excursion very seriously indeed. It doesn’t help when the boys from Chipwell discover their accommodation is reputed to be haunted and they have a close encounter with a phantom bearing more than a passing resemblance to Adolf Hitler. And one of the team inadvertently finds himself catapulted into the realms of international television stardom simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But in the end, after consuming a vast quantity of locally-produced wine, all the team agrees it’s been a trip to remember.Or will it turn out to be something they will never forget?
